High Performing Teams and Superstars @ Work

Every organization and its leaders strives to establish values and culture in the teams that result in building a high performing team. And there are multiple definitions and attributes associated with reflecting what a high performing team does truly mean. But, it all drills down to the single most essential ingredient which is the most important foundation to help a team become a high performing team. And that is kindness!!!

With Kindness, you build trust. With trust, you build confidence and with confidence you support others and when you support others, you form a dynamic in the team where people accept each other the way they are and help each other improve themselves in their journey to be better every day both as a human being and in your career. This topic did come up in one of my masters class and the professor asked what does it mean to be a high performing team. I wanted to share what I said that day.

A high performing team is a team of human beings with extra ordinary trust and confidence on each other. Each of them are skilled in different areas of attributes that contribute to the productivity and outcomes of the team they are part of but they know each other’s strengths and weaknesses really well and strive to better themselves by supporting each other. May be that is who you say is a superstar?

A superstar is a human being who is not perfect(because no one is perfect in the world and we try to get better over time) but strives to learn every day, admits mistakes, who is kind and most importantly empathetic towards others.

And when such a superstar believes in succeeding by helping everyone in the team succeed, that creates a true high performing team and the impact they create at work and in the confidence levels of people around is truly rewarding!!
